How do I bid/purchase an animal?
On the morning of the Auction, come to the PCYLA auction table set up by the Pacific County Fair’s Livestock Arena to get registered for a bidder number. You will need to provide your name, business name (if applicable), address, phone number and email address.

You will be given a sale catalog along with your bidder number. When you see an animal you wish to bid on (or a youth you wish to support), simply raise your bidder number and the auctioneer will call out the price currently bid. Beef, Hogs, Lambs, and Goats will sell by the pound. Turkeys will sell as an individual, Pullets and Fryers will sell as a pen of three birds.

What happens when I win an animal?

Once you have won an animal you will go to the auction table and let them know what you want to do. You have three options:

  1. Turn back: this means you agree to sell the animal to a designated floor buyer for the floor price listed in the sale catalog. You pay the difference.  For example, you win with a bid of $3.00 per pound. Floor price is $1.00 per pound for that species. You will pay $2.00 per pound and the floor buyer pays $1.00 per pound. The youth participant will still receive $3.00 per pound and the floor buyer keeps the animal.
  2. Process: this means you want the animal for consumption. Processing information will be provided in the sale catalog. When the animal is processed, you are responsible for costs for cutting and wrapping. You pay those costs directly to the processing facility and you pick up your meat directly from them.
  3. Take Home: if you decide you want to take the animal home at the end of the fair, you are responsible for all transportation costs. Please note this is a terminal sale (except for Pullets) and the animal can not be sold at another auction.
